Abstract
Abstract
This thesis investigates the essential dynamics of virtual teams in remote project management, focusing on the critical areas leaders should prioritize to enhance team effectiveness. Through a qualitative case study approach, the research addresses three primary questions: What should leaders prioritize in remote project management settings? How do project managers ensure virtual teams mitigate issues of trust, communication, and alignment? What practices help virtual teams effectively understand their roles and responsibilities?
Findings indicate that effective communication, team engagement, goal setting, and accountability are paramount in remote project management. Leaders must establish transparent communication channels, create opportunities for informal interactions, and set clear expectations to foster a collaborative environment. The study highlights the significance of building trust through personalized connections and structured communication practices, which are crucial for maintaining alignment and promoting a positive team culture.
Additionally, the research emphasizes the necessity of clear documentation and regular updates to ensure team members comprehend their roles and responsibilities. By employing effective communication strategies and project management tools, leaders can facilitate ongoing role alignment and accountability.
Ultimately, this study provides practical strategies for project managers to navigate the challenges of virtual teamwork, offering valuable insights for practitioners and scholars alike. The findings underscore the transformative impact of remote work on traditional project management practices, highlighting the need for strategic focus on trust, communication, and alignment to achieve sustained project success.
