Transforming Project Management: Cultural Regeneration and Technological Adaptation

Editor's Note

Welcome to this issue of the journal, themed Transforming Project Management: Cultural Regeneration and Technological Adaptation. As organizations navigate dynamic global markets and rapid technological advancements, the ability to foster adaptive cultures and integrate innovative tools is paramount. This issue features two compelling contributions that address these challenges, offering fresh perspectives on how project management can evolve to meet contemporary demands.

The review article, Creating a Regenerative Organizational Culture, explores the transformative potential of regenerative practices in reshaping organizational culture. By synthesizing literature on regenerative culture and digital transformation, the study outlines strategies for fostering adaptability, innovation, and sustainability. It introduces an innovative framework for predicting cultural practices across a project’s life cycle, emphasizing the importance of stakeholder synergy, sustainability commitment, and milestone celebrations. This work challenges project managers to proactively assess and revitalize cultural ecosystems, ensuring organizations remain vibrant and resilient.

In contrast, the letter Automation Mismatch: How Contractor AI Adoption Challenges Institutional Procurement Norms at U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) examines the tensions arising from AI adoption in federal procurement. It highlights how contractors’ use of AI tools, such as Vultron and Unanet, outpaces the modernization of government evaluation systems, which are constrained by regulatory, budgetary, and cultural barriers. Drawing on institutional theory, the article provides a nuanced analysis of these challenges, offering insights for navigating the integration of AI in project management contexts.

Together, these articles underscore the dual imperatives of cultural and technological transformation in project management. They invite readers to rethink how organizations can align internal cultures with external innovations to achieve sustainable success. We hope this issue sparks dialogue and inspires new approaches to managing projects in an ever-evolving landscape.
