Abstract

This study examines the human-centric challenges and organizational strategic benefits associated with migrating from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA Finance in U.S.-based organizations. The motivation behind this ERP transformation is that the company aims to automate its business processes and achieve operational efficiency. The success of ERP migration is shaped by user experience. Human barriers such as cognitive load, burnout and reluctance to change, insufficient user training, and work stress can threaten the success of ERP migration. This study aims to examine human-centric issues and organizational dynamics to propose effective ERP migration strategies that can help future ERP migrations and maximize the success ratio. The research adopts an exploratory sequential qualitative research approach that follows a constructivist worldview. Research data collection starts with a closed-ended questionnaire survey to identify baseline factors, such as cognitive load, training impact, workload stress, and user interface experience with the new system. Further, the research builds on the identified factors and moves to deeply investigate and collect in-depth data related to user experience through semi-structured interviews. The study aims to deliver a human-centric ERP adoption framework and guidance for human-related issues, offering practical guidelines to overcome user stress, training requirements, and guarantee successful long-term SAP S/4HANA Finance ERP adoption.
